BMC works closely with customers to optimise product geometry, material selection, wall thickness, and tooling requirements to achieve the best balance of performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness. From initial design through to production readiness, BMC advises on polymer suitability, product functionality, and manufacturing processes to ensure reliable and consistent results. Our many years' experience at BMC designing, manufacturing and running extrusion blow moulding tools means we can offer practical guidance on what can be achieved with extrusion blow moulding manufacture.
We start by understanding your packaging requirements and branding objectives. From there our skilled designers take your ideas and transforms them into innovative, functional and visually appealing designs which optimise palletisation efficiencies and impact at point of sale. We carry out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of each design to optimise for top loading and container strength. The designs are converted to 3D files for further assessment. Once designs are approved in principle, we manufacture models for final approval.
From approved product design we identify appropriate mould materials and cavitation to suit proposed run times and required volumes. Pricing and lead times are requested from a number of proven mould manufacturers who are given the moulding machine specifications and required cycle times. Once a mould manufacturer has been chosen, BMC can oversee the build process and authorise staged payments to the manufacturer for the work.
Extrusion tooling is developed to ensure desired material distribution and seam strength at the required container weight. Once moulds are completed, BMC can trial the moulds on our moulding machines or work with the client’s blow moulding machinery to manufacture “first-off” samples. Mould performance is evaluated with respect to water flows, cycle times, finished product dimensions and performance.
BMC works with a number of UN testing bodies. If the client’s product requires to be UN certified, BMC can advise on appropriate polymers, weights and wall thicknesses to ensure successful testing and final approval.
